How to Make a New Teacher Supply Cake

Teacher Supply Cake

Let’s face it–it is not easy to be a new teacher. There’s more to learn in that first year of teaching than most people realize. These rookie educators put in hours upon hours upon hours learning the curriculum, meeting colleagues, getting to know families, setting up their classroom, and figuring out how to best meet the needs of their students. It’s a lot of work!

That’s why keeping their classroom healthy, happy, and germ-free should be the easy part for new teachers. We think this New Teacher Supply Cake is the perfect way to welcome new teachers to a school and to equip them with the supplies they’ll need to get through the year without stopping for a cough, a sneeze, or a wheeze!

Step 1: Get Your Supplies Together

You’ll need a cake plate (or large circular platter), 8 containers of Lysol Disinfecting Wipes, (7 containers of the 35-count size and one container of the 80-count size), 8-10 boxes of crayons, 24-30 large-sized markers, 12 pencils, a 60” soft tape measure, 15-18 small glue sticks, 6-8 pairs of small safety scissors, double-sided tape, clear tape, 2-4 pieces of 3” x 2” paper, and 2 pieces of ribbon, each piece 36-48” long.

Step 2: Create The Base

Place 6 containers of Lysol Disinfecting Wipes in a tight circle on the cake plate. Each container should be touching because you want a solid base. Then, place the boxes of crayons around the Lysol Wipes. Secure all items in place with a ribbon.

Step 3: Add Layer Two

Use double-sided tape to secure markers around the Lysol Disinfecting Wipes 80-count container. Tie the tape measure around the markers. Place layer two on top of the base. Secure with double-sided tape.

Step 5: Add Some Pizazz and Personalization

Stick the scissors in place behind the markers on layer two. Use the 3” x 2” paper to create signs to welcome new teachers. Tape the signs to pencils and place pencils in between Lysol Disinfecting Wipes containers.

Step 6: Voila!

New teachers will love this clever Supply Cake, and the whole classroom will be healthy, happy, and germ-free!
